Flyball Drill
Purpose:
- Teach fielders how to catch a fly ball.
Equipment:
Drill:
- Setup a line of players and hit low flyballs to start.
- Teach proper footwork, back until you reach the spot where to ball can be caught over the head.
- Keep one foot behind the other, take a step forward and with the glove above the should fingers up catch th eball in the pocket.
- As players gain confidence increase th edistance and height of the flyballs.
- Tip - for new players wiffleballs can be used or large playground balls to teach catching above the shoulder.
Result:
- Fielders become better at catching flyballs and converting outs.
- Players learn to go on balls and gain confidence for game situations.
