Freeze Drill

Purpose:

• Teach fielders that they have a responsiblity on every ball put in play and a place to be.

Equipment:

• Balls, Infielder, Outfielder, Fungo Hitter

Drill:

• Have all fielders assume there position in field and create baserunning scenarios and place the ball in play. At some point in the making of the play, yell "freeze" and go around and ask each player what they should be doing.

Result:

• Players will need to understand the situation and knopw where to be.
• Everybody learns they need to be somewhere on every ball that is in play.
• No Standing around and watching the play, before you it the ball may be coming your way.
• Everyone should always know where the ball is at all times. If yo follow the ball you will know where the action is.
