Hitting to all Fields
Purpose:
- Teach hirtters to utilize the entire field based on the pitch location.
Equipment:
- Balls, Tee, Fielders, Hitters
Drill:
- Setup an infield and outfield.
- Place a tee at home plate and have hitters hit the ball and fielders make ploays.
- Move the tee inside, outside, down the middle and have the hitter to the appropriate field.
- Outside pitches should be hit to right with the ball deep on the plate, the middle pitch should be driven up the middle with the pitch on the front of the plate, the inside pitch should be pulled and hit out in front of the plate.
- Move the ball around and make hitters adjust to different pitch selection.
Result:
- Hitters learn to stay on the ball longer by driving it to the appropriate field.
- Hitters learn to hit to all fields and become better all hitters/
- Fielders get chance to make plays during the practice.
