Working on the Hip Turn when Batting
Purpose:
- Teaches a full turn and pivot for the swing.
Equipment:
Drill:
- Have the hitter take a proper stance next to the tee.
- Have the hitter hold the bat behind them with the barrell of the bat extending from the back foot hip. The barrell should stick out 8-12 inches so it can knock a ball off the tee.
- The Hitter holding the bat behind the back waist high with both arms should simulate a proper turn, pivoting on th eback foot and getting the belly button facing the pitcher.
- Stand close to the tee, with the ball in middle of the body at the belly button.
- Simulate a swing turn and complete it by knocking the ball off the tee with the barrel of the bat.
Result:
- Teaches a full swing and pivot.
- Shows the hitter what a full swing feels like.
- Back foot should be turned and on th etoe, belly button toward the pitcher.
