Taking the turn at First

Purpose:

• Teach baserunners to bow out and hit the corner of the bag and head to second in as straight a lineas possible.

Equipment:

• Field, Baserunners

Drill:

• Have the batter simulate a swing and take off for fiest base.
• Have coach tell the runner to make a turn.
• The runner should bow out abount 2/3 of way down the line and round off when turning at bag.
• The runner should hit the inside front corner of fisrtbase with their left foot and push hard off the base concentrating on going two second in a straight line.
• The runner should contiue to second as quick as possible.

Result:

• Good conditioning
• Teaches base runners how to make a turn and get to second quickly.
• The runner should not be right field heading to second.
