Pitching Fundamentals

Power Pitching - use the fastball to setup other pitches, move the ball around in the zone

Pitch Ahead - 2-2, 3-2, 0-2 situations. If you threw it 2-2 you should have confidence to throw it 3-2. When way ahead in the count be smart throw to spots.

Establish your Gameplan Early - aggressive with the fastball, pitching ahead in the count.

Throw from the same release point - get in the groove early.

Warm up properly - throw all pitches, pop the ball on the last couple of pitches, first inning is very important so prepare yourself.

Get the ball over the plate with something on it.

Get ahead and then go to work moving the ball around.

Move ball around, in and out, up and down to keep the hitter off stride.

Change speeds!!!

Learn hitters strengths and weaknesses.

Observe hitters stances and swings, particularly when you are not pitching.

Work corners only when you are ahead of the hitter.

Waste pitches should be off the plate but close to tempt the hitter to swing.

Do not throw the same pitch in the same spot too often.

Don't show everything; save your best stuff for crucial situations.

Set up hitters (havce a reason for every pitch).

Learn to pitch inside without hitting batters.

After two strikes make the hitter hit your pitch; can not lose the hitter now.

Be aggressive, never give in to the hitter.
