Standing Drill
Purpose:
- Learn to throw with elbow at shoulder height, hand back, shoulders turned.
Equipment:
Drill:
- Have players stand facing the the target, feet shoulder width apart, glove, ball and hands out in front of the players chest.
- Start by turning the shoulders toward the target, pulling the ball out of the glove, elbow shoulder high.
- Tthrow and release with the hand outside the plant knee.
Result:
- Simplifies throwing motion while taking the lower body out of the equation.
- Teaches proper shoulder turn
- Teaches an out front release point and focuses on the follow through.
