Tee Hitting

Purpose:

  • Develop a fluid and flat swing plane through the ball while properly shifting the weight and maintaining good balance.

Equipment:

  • Balls, bat, tee, and net

Drill:

  • The hitter should assume their stance and place a 70% effort on the swing speed.
  • The object is to make good solid contact with the ball.
  • Hands should be inside the ball and the hands should be slightly in front of the belly button.
  • When finishing, the belly button should be pointing to the pitcher or think of it as a 90 degree turn from the starting position.
  • The weight should be shifted to the plant foot and the back foot should be pivoted and aligned with the belly button.
  • This is the best place to grove a swing and develop proper fundamentals.

Result:

  • The hitter should be hitting line drives into the net of fence consistently.
  • The front foot should be pointing in the genera direction of the pitcher.
  • Head should be down and eyes focused on the contact point.
  • The chin should travel shoulder to shoulder from start to finish.
